SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The day after Notre Dame revealed the abrupt departure of starting quarterback Everett Golson, university officials are declining comment about whether there is a possibility he could return to the school at some point.
Spokesman Dennis Brown said Sunday he could not comment, citing privacy laws. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick also declined comment for the same reason.
Brown has said that as of Friday Golson was no longer enrolled at Notre Dame. Brown did not say why, though multiple media outlets that it had something to do with academics.
Golson did not respond to telephone or text messages left by The Associated Press on Sunday.
The surprising news is the latest in a string of issues for Notre Dame that have popped up since qualifying for the BCS championship game.
